Have you lost Channel Five? Are you no longer receiving Channel Five? You can add the free to air version of Five by using an stronger alternative frequency Channel Five Frequencies.

If you have recently lost Five, Five USA and Fiver channels on TV in Spain then you will need a new white replacement Sky card, as your old blue Sky card has been deactivated and you are getting a "This programme is not available" message (March 2010). "ITV1 Central S" and "ITV1 Central E" (ITV Central South and ITV Central East) have been removed from Astra 2D and have reappeared on the Astra 2B South beam. A Sky viewing card is required for these regions, that used to be free to air - no sky card required. You can add these ITV1 regions using Other Channels. The frequency is: 11973 V 27500 2/3 Its on Astra 2B south beam, so very easy to receive even on a smaller 60cm dish in many areas of Spain as this is a much stronger frequency than those on Astra 2D - reception will be similar to Sky News!

WHAT IS FREESAT, WHAT IS FREEVIEW, WHAT IS SKY TV, FREESAT TV ON THE COSTA BLANCA

Yes you can receive UK TV In Spain. Yes you can get Sky TV in Spain. Yes you can get Freesat in Spain. Yes you can get BBC ITV and C4 in Spain. Yes you can receive great crystal clear satellite high definition channels in Spain. (although the number of channels received depends on the size of your dish and location!)

UK satellite television is transmitted from 4 satellites: Astra 2a, Astra 2b, Astra 2D and Eurobird 1. Each of these satellite have different "signal footprints" and so reception of channels transmitted by these satellites can vary around Europe and Spain. The size of satellite dish you will need to receive signals from these satellites will depend on what channels you want to receive and where you are located.

1.8m / 1.9m satellite dishes can be wall mounted, but 2.4m satellite dishes should not be wall mounted!

Many UK TV channels can be received in Spain on an 80cm dish. You will not be able to receive the main BBC and ITV channels (they are on the weaker Astra 2d satellite) but you can get enough channels to keep you in tough with the world - like BBC News, BBC Radios, a few music channels, a few movie channel, ideal for a holiday home, where it may not be worth while installing a big dish for BBC and ITV reception! For reception of the the UK TV channels in Spain your satellite dish need to be pointing at the Astra 2 group of satellites located at 28.2 to 28.5 degrees east of south. - with free to air channel from the BBC and ITV to pay TV packages operated by Sky and ESPN. Sky and Freesat Frequencies

Costa Blanca Satellite Television installations for English language TV - some English language programmes and channels are also available on other satellite, like Astra 1, Hotbird, Badr / Arabsat, Nilesat.


SKY VIEWING CARDS / NEW REPLACEMENT SKY CARDS / SKY SUBSCRIPTIONS

You still require a Sky Viewing card to watch Fiver and Five USA - these are free to view channels and require a new white sky viewing card (either freesatfromsky or Sky subscription card). These channels are NOT available on Freesat or without a Sky viewing card.

From April 2009 Sky have been issuing new white Sky replacement viewing cards. These new white Sky cards will replace you old "Blue Yellow House" Sky viewing cards, that have been deactivated March 2010. New White Sky card being issued

Blue Sky cards have been deactivated from the 1st March 2010. You need a new white Sky card to watch any of the encrypted Sky TV channels in Spain.


SKY TV AND FREESAT TV DIGIBOXES / RECEIVERS / SET TOP BOXES

Receivers / Decoders : Basic Sky Freesat, PVRs like Sky+ and Freesat+, and High Definition, Pace, Thomson, Sky+ and SkyHD. Sky and Freesat receivers / digiboxes.

Sky+ Freesat+ and other PVRs: allow you to watch one channel and record another AT THE SAME TIME, using the inbuilt hard disk drive. Pause Live TV, instant rewind and series linking recording.

If you request a Freesat system, and you are supplied with a receiver without the Freesat logo, then you are not getting Freesat - including the Freesat programme guide and interactive features. Freesat is more than just channels, it is also the functions of the receiver as well!

FREE (NON SUBSCRIPTION) AND LEGAL UK TELEVISION IN SPAIN AND EUROPE

UK TV Direct from the satellites: Our UK TV systems come direct from the main UK TV satellites (Astra 2 and Eurobird). Any other system offering UK TV from any other satellites are illegally rebroadcasting them without the channels permissions.

You can legally watch the free to air UK TV channels direct from the satellites anywhere in Spain and Europe where the signals can be received via a satellite dish.

European Law allows the viewing of Free to Air TV channels from another country - but even under "Television Without Frontiers" and "AVMS" EU Directives, you are NOT given the automatic right to watch all UK TV Channels in Spain! EU Law (Television without Frontiers and AVMS) Directives

Direct from Satellite : our UK TV satellite systems use only signals direct from the satellites : no illegal rebroadcasting / micromesh systems. Just direct satellite TV from Astra 2a, Astra 2b, Astra 2d and Eurobird 1.

We do not and never have supplied illegal rebroadcasting system - we only supply systems for satellite TV signals direct from their source...not third party systems. Illegal rebroadcasting of TV channels without permissions.

And you can only get Sky TV in Spain by using an official Sky TV Viewing card. If you are getting Sky TV subscription channels in Spain without using a Sky TV Viewing card then you are getting the channels illegally.

Irish TV Channels on Sky: The Irish TV channels (RTE, TG3, TV3) and the Ireland variations of UK channels (Channel 4, Sky One Ireland) require a Sky viewing card to be viewed. This card needs to be registered at and address in Ireland.

SPANISH DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL TELEVISION (TDT) CHANNELS - SPANISH "FREEVIEW" TV SYSTEM



Television Digital Terrestrial (TDT) – Spain's “Freeview” TV - Around 30 Crystal Clear Digital Spanish TV channels via your TV aerial. Areas of Spain will lose their analogue signals on 31st December 2009 as part of the analogue switch off scheme. Other areas will lose their analogue TV signals in April 2010. TDT Spain

Spanish TDT - Digital TV required three components: a TV aerial, an masthead amplifier and power supply, and a TDT Digital TV receiver (this is built into many flat screen Plasma and LCD TVs these day, otherwise you will require a separate TDT Set Top Box / decoder)

You cannot receive ANY UK TV channels via TDT - it is a Spanish broadcast system only. However, in many cases, UK and USA imported programmes can be watched in their own language (i.e. English)

Spanish TDT - Many programmes on Spanish Digital Terrestrial TDT care broadcast with two audio soundtracks, meaning that in many cases, many programmes from the UK and USA can be watched with  English sound simply by pressing a button on your remote control to change the language from Spanish to English.

Spanish TDT - UK Freeview boxes may work in Spain and the Costa Blanca, but they may have some issues that may mean that they do not work 100% correctly.

Spanish Television Channels - Spanish Digital Channels - TVE - Teledeporte - La Sexta - Telecinco - GOL Television - Digital + - Disney Channel - Cuarto - Sony TV - Spanish TV Channels.

Update 1 May 2010: Sony SET TV has been removed from TDT. If you try and watch Sony Entertainment TV on TDT then you will get the scrambled or encrypted message on the screen. This is because SET has been replaced by AXN, the second pay TV channel on TDT. So you will have to subscribe to this channel to view it.
