ITV HD on a Sky HD digibox Costa Blanca Spain

Initially the ITV HD (High Definition) service was only available on a Freesat receiver / set top box and was not available on a Sky HD digibox.

However, the New Sky HD Programme Guide (EPG) now allows users to access the ITV HD service. This means that Sky HD customers can view all the HD channels currently available in the UK (without an additional subscription or hardware). Freesat no longer has any exclusivity.

Follow the guide below to input the ITV HD channels frequency into your Sky HD receiver.

How to Add ITV HD channel to your Sky HD box

Press TV Guide on your Sky remote control to enter the EPG.

Press the Up Arrow on the Sky remote control to give the top menu bar focus.  It defaults to TV Guide.

Now use the Left or Right Arrow keys to move along through the options until you reach the Options menu.

Use the Down Arrow key to move the focus back to the middle menu bar.  Sky+ Setup is the default option.

Use the Left or Right Arrow keys to move through the options to get to the Add Channels option.

Press the Down Arrow key to give the main body of the menu focus. 

Here you need to enter the frequency, polarisation, symbol rate and forward error correction (FEC) values of the satellite transponder upon which the ITV HD channel is broadcast.  Use the Sky remote control's numerical keys to add the frequency and the Left/Right Arrow keys to change the polarisation.  The other two values are suitable in their default states. Enter the following:

ITV HD Frequency
Frequency : 11.427
Polarisation: H
Symbol Rate : 27.5
FEC: 2/3

When the values are input, press the Yellow button on your remote to Find Channels.

The box will now scan for the channels on that frequency.

After a moment, the Sky HD box will display the TV services it has found.  ITV HD is cryptically labelled as “10510”.  Use the Down Arrow on the remote to highlight that option, then press the Yellow button on the remote to Store Channel.

A small tick icon will appear next to “10510”. You can now save your changes by pressing the Select button on the remote.

The Sky HD box will confirm that it has saved the channel. Press Select to continue

How to view ITV HD on your Sky HD box

Follow the steps above to get to the Options menu.

Press the Left or Right or Arrow buttons to select Other Channels.

Press the Down Arrow, then highlight the “10510” option. Press Select once to show a preview in the mini-TV, or twice to go to view ITV HD.
