ADMC Sport on Nilesat and Badr

ADMC is a PAY TV services for Africa and the Middle East. ADMS Sport is available on two satellite systems, Nilesat at 7 West and Badr / Arabsat at 26 east. The Nile sat frequencies are difficulty to receive in Spain unless you have a big dish.

ADMC Sport will be one of only a few satellite broadcasters who will be showing ALL 380 English Premier League football matches. And they will be available in high definition. And all, they say, with English commentary.

ADMC Sport have also gained the F1 rights for the next few years from Showtime.

Showtime Sports on Nilesat

Showtime is a service available on a 80cm or 1m dish via Nilesat.

Its is a PAY TV service and requires a viewing card and compatible receiver. Normally, and to make your subscription 100% legal, you require an address in Saudi Arabia for the card, just like you require a UK address for your Sky card. However, you can purchase these cards "over the counter".

This package is of interest to Football and other sports fans due to its portfolio of sports available.

They show ALL UK Premiership football matches including the 3pm Saturday kickoffs, many with English commentary, at least until the end of the 2009 / 2010 season.

They also show Formula1, Golf, Wrestling, Rugby and much more.

Please be aware that no "Premier League"  rights for international (i.e. non UK) broadcasters have yet been announced for the 20010 - 11 season onwards. Therefore do not expect Showtime to continue showing matches past this coming 2009 - 10 season (the end of the current contract period), and your Showtime receiver may not accept other broadcasters viewing cards, as there are around 3 other broadcasters interested in these matches. It is expected that the international rights for Premiere League 2010-11 will be announced in August.

UPDATE: Showtime Sports do not have the rights to show UK Premier League football matches from the 2010 season. These have been allocated to another Middle East broadcaster, who may sell on rights to certain football matches to other broadcasters.

February 1st 2010 Update:

Following on from its ‘merger’ last July, Dubai’s Orbit-Showtime Network is relaunching today, Feb 1.
Pay-TV operator Orbit-Showtime Network will relaunch today with a new look and 8 new channels. Three will be in high-definition. However, viewers cannot yet receive the new HD channels unless they’ve a brand new set-top box and this will not be available for a few weeks.

Orbit-Showtime Network said it would be about 9 months before all subscribers get a new box. “It’s not a box that you can buy in the market,” d’Halluin said. “We will only be providing these boxes to new and existing subscribers only. It’s going to take six to nine months to complete because we’ve got hundreds of thousands of subscribers”.

The three new HDTV services are OSN Movies HD, Nat Geo Wild HD and Discovery HD, while the five new standard channels are OSN Variety, Scripps’ Food Network, MTV Networks-owned BET (Black Entertainment TV), Discovery’s Investigation Discovery (ID) and OSN Arabia – claimed to be the region’s first 24-hour Western entertainment channel dubbed entirely into Arabic.

The relaunch has meant a few changes to the Showtime channels and frequencies on the Nilesat 7W satellite, especially for those channels that currently show UK Premier League football.

Those Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) channels on Atlantic Bird require a must lager satellite dish, maybe even a 1.8m satellite dish for good reception.
