    LNBs

Hi, the dish (95cm) left by the previous occupants has a Sharp 0.7 LNB which picks up German channels fine but I can't seem to get anything on my Sky Pace box. Could it be the LNB ?

    Re: LNBs

    Hi,

although the LNB 0.7 is a very old LNB (a 0.2 or 0.3 would be better), that is not the problem.
The main satellite for German channels is Astra 1, located 19 degrees east of south.
A sky digibox is configured to use Astra 2 (and Eurobord) satellites located at 28.5 degrees east of south.
A sky digibox cannot really be used to pick up channels on another satellite - a Sky UK digibox cannot even be used to pick up Sky Italia channels on Hotbord (13degrees)

So to get the UK TV channels, using your Sky digibox, you will have to move your dish and line it up to the correct satellite.
Another note - a 95cm dish (depending on your location - i am assuming you are in spain), will not pick up the main UK TV stations like BBC ITV and C4. In the costa blanca the minimun size dish is 1.8m.

    Hope this helps

    Re: LNBs

What is a monobloc LNB and when are they more effective?

    Re: LNBs

if you want to use one satellite dish to view channels from two satellites, then you will need two LNBs and a disecq switch that the receiver commands to switch between the teo LNBs.
A monoblock combines the LNB and disecq swicth into one unit.

the most popular monoblocks are angled at 6 degrees to get Astra 1 (19 degrees) and Hotbord (13 degrees).
