    E4 and More4 are now free - C4 soon

E4 and its +1 service, and More4 and its +1 service are now FTA.

You do not need a sky viewing card to view these channels. They are now free to watch - as long as you have the relevant dish size!

Expecting Channel4 to go free in the next hour or so.

Also, ITV HD will not be available on Sky HD boxes for thre foreseeable future.

    Some information...

I posted this on aanother forum and thought that it may be useful here also....

"on monday 4th august channel 4 moved frequencies and satellites...it is on longer on 12168V on astra 2a but on astra 2d on 10714H. in our part of spain this means no c4 past 6pmish (in other areas c4 reception has improved!). c4+1 is unaffected at the moment but this may (probably will) change. on my website it does give some details to get some "leftover" c4 signals, but as it says it is unknown when these may go...
c4 did this to save money as in the near future their sky encryption contract is meant to expire and therefore they will be free to view - no sky card required and therefore totally legal to watch by satelite whereever you can get a dish big enough to get the signal...yes it is totally legal to watch signals from a satellite that are FREE!! and in theory you are only breaking the terms and conditions of a sky contract if you use the card outside of the uk, it is not illegal and you cannot go to jail for it as it is not covered in law

so all those people that said the freesat would mean good free uk tv on a small dish can now say "we were wrong, it is the total opposite"

they are doing what the beeb did a few years ago.... to restrict viewing there are two ways to go around this -issue viewing cards only to addresses in that country or restrict the reach of the signal...and so by not paying sky for their encryption they must restrict their signal to please their programme providers...

but why you may ask. well if you are in spain canal digital + would have bought the rights to show programmes in spain, and would be very annoyed if they were available for free (in english but most europeans can understand some english) and thus reduce the subscriptions. similar with the movies. the studios sell their movies to the individual satellite companies in each country. hence why sky movies will not be broadcast on canal digital+ as they already have these movies on their movie service.....and hence why canal digital+ is very concerned about some of these rebroadcasting services

and if you want to know what another installer knows (or should that be does not know!!) about UK TV in spain then check out "http://www.myspain.es/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=565", and my response........
