How do I connect my laptop to TV using HDMI?

If both your laptop and TV have HDMI (which stands for “high definition multimedia interface”) ports, then this is probably the best and easiest method to connect a PC or laptop to a TV. Using HDMI produces the best quality as HDMI supports HD resolutions, and HDMI also carries both audio and video signals in a single cable.

First of all, make sure your PC or Laptop has a HDMI output port.

Connect the laptop to TV – Connect the HDMI port on the PC / laptop to the HDMI port on the TV using a HDMI cable. Some TVs have more than one HDMI input port on them, so when you plug in the HDMI cable on the back of the TV, pay attention to which HDMI input port you are using.

However, in some cases, some Windows 7 and Windows 8 users, may have to go into Control Panels,selecting “Adjust screen resolution.”, click on the second monitor, choose “Extend the desktop onto this monitor” and click “Apply”.
