Sky TV Magic Eye. Watch Sky TV in Multiple Rooms

sky magic eye

The Sky TV Magic Eye / TV Link system allows you to watch and control Sky TV from any TV.

The Sky Magic Eye / TV Link system is the easy way to distribute high quality digital pictures around the house, and control the Sky digibox from any other room.

The Sky Magic Eye / TV Link system uses the built-in functionality of a Sky digibox to control the digital receiver from a different room.

The Sky Magic Eye / TV Link system remote control eye sits on top of the TV in your bedroom or other remote viewing point.

The Sky Magic Eye / TV Link system sends the remote control signals from the bedroom to the Sky digital receiver in the living room via the same coaxial cable that is delivering the Sky pictures to the television.

How to connect the Sky Magic Eye / TV Link system from your Sky Digibox to another TV

How to connect the Sky Magic Eye

Connect some coaxial cable to the RF2 output of the SKY Digibox receiver.

You must use the RF2 output on the Sky Digibox as RF2 is able to output power. RF1 does not output any power.

Connect the Sky Magic Eye TV Link to this coaxial cable.

Connect a coaxial cable to the other end of the Sky Magic Eye TV Link

Connect a coaxial cable to the aerial input of the second TV.

Configuring the Sky Digibox to work with the Sky Magic Eye TV Link system

The Sky Magic Eye TV Link obtains power from the SKY digibox itself, via RF2.

The factory default setting for the digibox has this power feature set as disabled.

To enable power to the Sky Magic Eye TV Link

Access the ‘hidden / secret’ Sky Installers setup menu. This is done by pressing the following buttons:

Sky and Sky + digiboxes: Services 4 0 1 Select
Sky HD and Sky+HD digiboxes: Services 0 0 1 Select

The Sky Installers setup menu gives you a number of options.

Navigate to the RF Outlets option and press select.

Navigate to the RF Outlet Power Supply option and set this option to ‘ON’

Navigate to Save New Settings and Press Select

Your Sky Magic Eye should now have it’s red light illuminated, indicating it is receiving power from the Sky digibox and should be working.

If you have no Sky TV picture on your second TV, then you may have to perform a channel scan on the TV. You will have to make sure your TV is tuned to the RF Channel frequency that was in the RF outlets screen. Otherwise you will get no picture on your TV.

Configuring the Sky+HD Digibox to work with the Sky Magic Eye TV Link system

The process of setting up a Sky Magic Eye on a Sky+HD digibox is pretty much the same as that of a Sky Digibox.

Access the ‘hidden / secret’ Sky Installers setup menu. This is done by pressing the following buttons:

Services 0 0 1 Select

Navigate to the RF Outlets option and press select.

Navigate to the RF Outlet Power Supply option and set this option to ‘ON’

Navigate to Save New Settings and Press Select

Your Sky Magic Eye should now have it’s red light illuminated, indicating it is receiving power from the Sky +HD digibox and should be working.

Note that some of the newer Sky+HD digiboxes no longer have the RF outputs.

This means that they cannot be used directly with a Sky Magic Eye.

You will need a Sky IO Link adaptor.

This device plugs into the multi-pin socket found on the back of Sky HD boxes that have no RF2 output. It provides an RF output for RF based viewing at multiple TV locations. It also enables Infra Red control via the TV Link Sky Eye / Magic Eye type IR controllers that use the RF2 socket.
