Viewing more TV from other satellites covering Europe
You are not limited to the UK satellite constellation. There are many other channels available on other satellites such as Astra 19, Hotbird 13 or Arabsat 26. Many of these are available for free, but they may have limited availability of English soundtracks. For example you can watch Eurosport for free on Astra 19, but it is the German Eurosport with no English audio!
The best setup for a multisatellite system is to install a motorised dish. The motor will move the dish to the correct satellite depending on what channel you select on the receiver.
Many channels on the UK satellites, Arabsat, Astra1 and Hotbird can easily be received on an 80cm dish on a motor. And with the latest motors you can ensure that your dish moves between the satellites quick and swift.
BeIN Sport Mena
beIN Sport is a global network of sports channels jointly owned and operated by Qatari Sports Investments (an affiliate of Al Jazeera Media Networks),and headquartered in Doha, Qatar.
beIN Sports was launched in November 2003 originally as Al Jazeera Sport. On 1 January 2014 Al Jazeera Sport channels were rebranded to BeIN Sport.
beIN Sport is a one of the main broadcasters for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) areas, but also operates a number of channels in other countries.
Arabsat and Nilesat are primarily used for transmitting to the area known as MENA region (Middle East and North Africa).
Arabsat is also known as the BAdr satellites.
The Arabsat constellation of satellites is located at 26 degrees east of south. Arabsat is primarily used for transmitting to the Middle East. However Arabsat signals can be picked up in Spain, even on an 80cm satellite dish.
The Nilesat constellation of satellites is located at 7 degrees west of south. Nilesat is primarily used for transmitting to the Middle East. However Nilesat signals can be picked up in Spain, even on an 80cm satellite dish.
Whiles most of the programmes on Arabsat and Nilesat are in Arabic, some channels transmit programmes in English.
The Astra 1 constellation of satellites is located at 19.2 degrees east of south.
The Astra 1 satellites are primarily used for transmitting to Europe. Many European countries use this satellite for their Pay TV services, including Spain’s Movistar + (formally Digital Plus), most of the Canal+ services, and German Sky Deutschland.
Reception of Astra 1 in Spain can easily be received on a 60cm satellite dish, a small sized dish.
The Hot bird constellation of satellites are located at 13 degrees east of south, operated by satellite company Eutelsat.
With a launch mass of 4.9 tonnes, Hot Bird 8 is the largest and the most powerful broadcast satellite serving Europe.
These satellites are primarily used for transmitting to Europe. They transmits both free to air and pay TV channels. Many European countries use this satellite for their Pay TV services, including Sky Italia, Polands Cyfra+, and Greek Nova.
On Sunday 1st November, BeIN Sports changed some of their channel frequencies and the satellites they operated on.
With no prior warning.
If your satellite dish is aligned to Nilesat at 7 West, then you will have lost BeIN Sports 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15.
These BeIN Sports channels (BeIN Sports 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15) are now only available on their satellites at 25.5 east, Es’Hailsat.
If your satellite dish is already aligned to Es’Hailsat at 25.5 East (or Badr at 26 east), then you will also need to perform a rescan of channels, as some of the BeIN Sports channels have changed their frequencies also.
BeIn Sports have announced new package details for its Middle East service.

The 2015 Australian Open Tennis Championship will be held from 19 to 29 January 2015.
The 2015 Australian Open Tennis Championship will be the 103rd edition of the Australian Open
The 2015 Australian Open Tennis Championship will be held at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Austrailia.
The 2015 Australian Open swings into action in Melbourne and both British Eurosport and the BBC will be screening live coverage of the first Grand Slam of the year.
British Eurosport will again be the only place to follow the progress of all the big names throughout the 14-day tournament with the most comprehensive and unrivalled coverage of each day’s play available on UK television.
BBC Sport will provide free-to-air coverage of the latter stages of the tournament Down Under, including the men’s and women’s singles finals live on BBC TV.
The Premier League’s chances of sealing a staggering £10million-per-game agreement – and £5 billion overall – from the next three-year domestic rights deal are even stronger now two foreign TV giants are involved.
The battle between Sky Sports and BT Sport in the auction for the seven packages was already such that £10m for each of 168 live games was an achievable target.
But the Premier League also have America’s massively-funded Discovery Channel looking closely at the tender document while Qatar-based beIN Sports are discussing whether to bid before the February 6 deadline.
Discovery, famous for their documentaries, look the more interested of the two potential new challengers. They own Eurosport so have an established platform on which to screen matches. Even one of the two mini 14-game packages might be seen as a way of establishing the Discovery-Eurosport partnership in the UK. Sports rights specialist Peter Hutton has been appointed Eurosport CEO to build content.
As for beIN Sports, they have the financial muscle to outbid all rivals and it seems a matter of when, rather than if, they will enter England’s domestic football market.
Doha executives say they will give serious consideration as to whether now is the right time to move. The competition will delight the Premier League, who sell each of the seven packages to the highest bidder, and it might be that three different networks share content from 2016-17.
