The Astra 2G satellite is a commercial communications satellite built by Astrium, France. Astra 2F will be operated by by SES, Luxembourg.

Astra 2G, along with two other new Astra 2 satellites, Astra 2E, and Astra 2F, will be replacing Astra 2A, Astra 2B Astra 2C, Astra 2D and Eurobird 1 / Eutelsat 28A satellites at 28.2° E.

Astra 2G Satellite News Update : July 2015 : A number of other channels have moved from Eutelsat 28A to Astra 2E, 2F and 2G. Eutelsat 28A is now clear of channels. It looks like any future changes will simply be channels moving between the three new Astra satellites to evenly balance the loads.

Astra 2G Satellite News Update : 16 June 2015 : A rumour that some ITV channels will be moving to the UK beam on Astra 2G in the next few days…so another Uk beam to test exact reception against… hopefully it will be similar to the UK beams on Astra 2E and 2F

Astra 2G Satellite News Update : 15 June 2015 : Astra 2G is now at 28 east. Over the next few weeks channels will slowly be migrated from Eutelsat 28A,and maybe Astra 2e and Astra 2F, onto the UK and European beams of Astra 2G.

Astra 2G Satellite News Launch Update 13th November 2014: SES has confirmed that all is looking good with its upcoming launch of Astra 2G on November 28th. International Launch Services (ILS), which is responsible for the Proton rocket launch in Kazakhstan, completed the first day of fuelling the craft on November 10th.
ILS also says that the Briz-M Upper Stage is undergoing its final test stages and will be joined to the main Proton rocket on November 14th.

Astra 2G Satellite News Launch Update : Day one of fuelling of the Astra 2G spacecraft was completed on schedule today in Baikonur. In other launch operations, The Breeze M is back in Hall 101 undergoing pneumatic testing. Joint operations are scheduled to begin on November 14 to support the ILS Proton launch of SES’s Astra 2G at the end of November.
This will be the 400th Proton launch since its first flight in 1965 and the 7th Proton mission this year. The Astra 2G satellite was designed and
manufactured by Airbus Defence and Space for SES of Luxembourg. Based on the reliable Eurostar E3000 platform, the satellite will have a launch mass over 6 metric tons.
