Have Sky UK started an attack on cardsharing and cards used in non sky boxes…?
Today, some people noticed they could no longer watch Channel 4 and Channel 4+1 on the Irish sky card version on frequency 12480.
These people were using non sky boxes.
It appears that some new coding has been used on these two channels. Other channel on the same transponder are not affected. Users of Sky cards and Sky boxes have not been affected. The signals on the screens suggest all is OK, but the screen are blank.
This could be the start of Sky UKs attempt at reducing the illegal card sharing networks and the use of cards in non sky boxes. If proved to be working OK it can only be a matter of time before the coding is implimented to other Sky channels…and maybe even to other companies using the NDS encryption used by Sky UK.
This comes a month after a major card sharing network in Derbyshire UK was shut down.
According to another forum, they contacted Sky who said that there was maintenance being performed on that transponder which may affect ALL channels on that frequency.
Which is a bit strange that it has only affected C4 and C4+1 and not the others on that frequency./
And that PICK TV is also having the same issues.
So maybe it is maintenance and it will clear / get fixed, or indeed this is the next step in combating pirate cards and TV systems by Sky.
