UK TV “expert” saying incorrect things
So apparently another UK TV “expert” was on a Costa Blanca radio station recently, with some more incorrect and confusing news.
According to this “expert”, the next new UK TV satellite will be launched in the next months.
And the UK TV channels like BBC and ITV will also be moved over to this new satellite “in the next month or so”.
Well, I think he needs a new calendar or check his facts.
We are currently in March, and the next new UK TV satellite, Astra 2E, is, and has always been, scheduled for launch in June 2013.
Not in March / April or even May.
It is no wonder there is so much confusion about UK TV in Spain when even the “experts” cannot even get their facts right!
It is almost as bad as cowboy “installers” in the area passing 1.25m satellite dishes off as 1.4m satellite dishes.
Or saying that Freeview is available in Spain, when you cannot!
About Astra 2e
aunch, Astra 2E was developed by Astrium, now known as Airbus Defence and Space, as part of the ongoing effort to maintain and expand SES’s broadcasting capabilities in the 28.2° East orbital position—a critical slot for delivering television services, particularly to the UK and Ireland.
The satellite was designed with 60 Ku-band transponders and 4 Ka-band transponders, offering a substantial increase in capacity and coverage compared to its predecessors. This configuration was intended to support a wide range of services, from standard and high-definition television broadcasting to broadband internet and data services. The Ka-band transponders, in particular, were expected to boost SES’s ability to provide high-speed internet services, addressing the growing demand for reliable broadband connectivity in the region.
The satellite was part of the Astra 2 series, positioned at 28.2° East, a key orbital slot for delivering television services to the UK and Ireland. Astra 2E was set to replace older satellites, ensuring continued service and improved capabilities for the region.
