The BBC have confirmed that the new series of Doctor Who will start in August 2014.

This is the first series with Peter Capaldi as The Doctor.

Capaldi is taking over the lead role from Matt Smith, who departed after a Christmas special.

Jenna Coleman will return as companion Clara Oswald.

The BBC have released a 15-second “teaser trailer”, in which Peter Capaldi’s Doctor can be seen silhouetted in the TARDIS with what looks like an explosion ripping through the backdrop.
