UK Satellite Changes – True Movies moves to UK beam
As mentioned in a previous post ( https://www.satandpcguy.com/blog/2015/05/uk-satellite-tv-reception-problems/ ) preparations are taking place to move channels from Eutelsat 28A to the new Astra 2G satellite.
And last night some of those preparations took place.
A number of channels on 4 frequencies on Eutelsat 28A moved to the Astra 2F satellite.
Interestingly they have been moved to the UK beam of the 2F satellite.
And not the European beam.
This will mean that these channels may have been lost for some viewers in southern Spain, Portugal, South of France and Italy, as their satellite dishes are now too small to receive these channels on their new “temporary” beam.
It is unknown if these channels will remain on a UK beam or be on the European bean if and when they move to their permanent home Astra 2G.
Channel and frequencies affected include:
11307 V 27500 2/3
Flava , Bliss , Scuzz, Chart Show Dance, True Movies 1, True Movies 2, Tiny Pop, Starz (UK), Pop, Tiny Pop +1, Kix!, The Vault, PopGirl, Chart Show TV, True Entertainment, True Drama
11307 H 27500 2/3
Universal Channel UK +1 , LFC TV, Ideal World, Create and Craft, Syfy UK, Universal Channel UK, Universal Channel Ireland, Movies 24, Syfy UK +1
11343 V 27500 2/3
CBS Drama, At The Races Ireland, Babestation, S4C
11344 H 27500 2/3
E! Ireland, E! UK, Angling TV, BT Sport Extra, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, ESPN UK, BT Sport mosaic.
Note the channels have not changed frequencies. They have simply moved satellites and satellite beams.
Hi
Thanks for this article, I have been searching the web today for answers. For the last 2 weeks I’ve been using my Crystop 80cm dish on my motorhome in northern italy without problems to watch Sky, on a motorhoming holiday from the UK with our sky box. Today I can’t get the dish to lock onto Astra 2 using the 11343 transponder, so I can’t watch any TV as the automatic dish won’t lock on. Do you know if there’s an alternative transponder frequency I can type into the Crystop configuration to that it locks on? Thanks in advance .
UK TV uses about 100 plus frequencies…take your pick…http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php
Thanks for the quick reply 🙂 I tried a few frequencies , the first few the Crystop would not lock-on and continues to rotate and searching for its signal , then tried 12110 (cos I was watching sky sports F1 here in italy for Monaco ) ….success the Crystop stops and locks onto something at 28.2E but the Sky box says not locked and there’s no EPG either. Do I need a specific frequency for Sky EPG info too? Thanks again 🙂
The main 7 day sky epg data is on frequency 11778.
But all other frequencies carry small limited SKy EPG data.
Perhaps the Sky box is not locking, as you are on the wrong satellite – 12110 can be an active frequency on another satellite, and that is what you have locked onto
Morning , now that the dish has locked onto something at 28.2E do you think I need to change the default transponder frequency on the Sky Box to get it to startup and receive EPG information? Thanks in advance
The main 7 day sky epg data is on frequency 11778.
But all other frequencies carry small limited SKy EPG data.
Chaning the default transponder to any frequency you know you can receive will allow the box to download the channel list and the limited epg data
Do we know how long it will be on “temporary” satelitte for? Are we able to find out if it will go European beam?
No one outside the broadcasters will know what beam their channels will be on. It may be these channels remain on the UK beam.
I don’t have sky, just a regular digital tv, and I’ve lost channel 82, I live in London. Do you know if I will be able to get it back….thanks
Hi,
Being based in Spain it is a bit tricky for me to comment on Freeview, as Freeview is not available in Spain!
However, I think that True Movies (82) has been removed from the London service.
But you will now have two new channels : Kix & True crime
