Humax Freesat STB 02001 error message when trying to use BBC iPlayer
People using a Humax Freesat set top box may have been experiencing issues when trying to watch content from BBC iPlayer recently.
Users are receiving an “02001 error message”.
The BBC iPlayer team aware that some viewers are seeing a 02001 error message when attempting to watch programmes on iPlayer via a Humax/Freesat device.
The issue affects only Freesat Humax boxes with the following model numbers: HDR1100S, HDR1010S, HDR1000s, HB1100S, and HB1000S.
This is currently being investigated and we will update this page with any new information.
Updates direct from the iPlayer team can be found at : Why am I seeing a 02001 error message on my Humax/Freesat device?
I hope they can sort it soon!!!! I’m paying a licence fee to watch BBC and am missing out on content.
You can watch on any number of other devices while they sort it out if you are that desperate. And of course, the UK licence fee is not just to watch BBC, but all live TV on any platform on any device
There are also reports that BBC iPlayer is failing on Amazon Fire TV (firesticks) devices also, with users reporting frequent buffering and pausing. The BBC says it is investigating this issue, but says it is unclear where the fault lies.
Hi this issue has been on going since 6th of April and still not resolved ??
They have not issued any updates, so i dare say they are still working on it.
This is now more than a week since the iPlayer last worked not at all happy about this what do I pay the license fee for working for erything except bbc not good enoy
iPlayer is still available on many other devices, whilst this one device is out of action. Things fail. Thats the nature of technology. But they have to investigate and test and then deploy and this can take time. Of course it may not be an iPlayer issue, but a Freesat or Humax issue, so you are waiting for them to sort it out, not BBC.
It’s all very well pointing out that the iPlayer is available on other platforms, but what if this is not an option as what I paid for is NOT available to me on my TV….how long does it take to sort this out – Go on, blame COVID, everyone else does!
You will also have paid for it to be on Freeview, and online, two other platforms available to most people in the UK.
But if these are not an option for you on your TV (you could complain about having paid for a TV that is not directly compatible with iPlayer!), you also have the option of a firestick or chomecast and a few other devices that will get you iPlayer onto your TV.
If they do not know what the problem is, then you they cannot solve it. Once they know what the problem is, then they can work on a solution. Then they have to test it. And then roll it into the Humax firmware.
Remember Humax Freesat boxes have not been manufactured now for a few years, are quite old and are struggling to handle todays software and firmware and app requirements, (as seen by the slow loading times of the on demand apps on these boxes) so you are pretty lucky they are still being supported.
But they have fixed the issue with iPlayer that was on Amazon Firesticks, perhaps that was their priority…now onto the other 5 outstanding issues that have to look at, two of which are still being looked at from first being reported in Sept 2021.
Update : Friday 22 April : A fix has now been released which will allow you to access iPlayer as normal.
