ITV2HD,3HD and 4HD channel to go free to air??
According to information published by Sky today “Changes to the Sky TV guide – November 2022” , ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD will be going free to air on 1st November 2022.
Where as the Standard Definition ITV2, 3, and 4 channels have been free to air since they started, their HD counterparts have been behind the “Sky HD Paywall”, needing a Sky HD box, a Sky card, and a Sky HD subscription.
The move to free to air means that these channels could soon be seen on Freesat.
The information from Sky says that those with a Sky HD box (and no Sky HD subscirption) will see their SD and HD channels swap places inthe Sky channel guide.
ITV2 HD goes free-to-air 816 – smart swapped with 118
ITV3 HD goes free-to-air 817 – smart swapped with 119
ITV4 HD goes free-to-air 818 – smart swapped with 120
If these channels are to be added to the Freesat Guide, the change should be done automatically.
For those viewers not using a Sky or Freesat box, then a manual tune of the channels on their frequencies will be required.
‘ITV2 HD’ is on 11.053 H, 23.000, 3/4, DVB-S2, 8PSK.
‘ITV4 HD’ is on 11.067 V, 23.000, 3/4, DVB-S2, 8PSK.
‘ITV3 HD’ is on 11.097 V, 23.000, 3/4, DVB-S2, 8PSK.
However, it should be noted that in Spain, these ITV HD frequencies can be tricky to receiver. In my service area (Costa Blanca North / Costa Azahar) , a 125x135cm satellite dish with a good LNB just about gets these frequencies (apart from in heavy rain!). Correctly aligned 1.8m and 2.4m satellite dishes should have no problems with reception either. In other areas of Spain, reception will depend on your exact location and dish size.
One can only assume this is part of the massive rebrand ITV is undertaking with its channels, and ITVX, the replcament for ITVHub. And all intime for the Football World Cup this winter.
