Last week we posted that ITV2 HD, ITV 3HD and ITV4 HD channels would soon be going free to air and probably available on Freesat.

ITV2HD,3HD and 4HD channel to go free to air??

The channels were added for free to Sky HD digiboxes last week.

But there has been a delay in getting these channels onto Freesat.

But they have been added to Freesat today (Tuesday 8th November 2022).

ITV2 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 113.
ITV3 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 115.
ITV4 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 117.

We also noted that reception of these HD channels could be hared to receive in Spain, especially in my service area.

However, it should be noted that in Spain, these ITV HD frequencies can be tricky to receiver. In my service area (Costa Blanca North / Costa Azahar) , a 125x135cm satellite dish with a good LNB just about gets these frequencies (apart from in heavy rain!). Correctly aligned 1.8m and 2.4m satellite dishes should have no problems with reception either. In other areas of Spain, reception will depend on your exact location and dish size.

It was hoped that if users were struggling to receive these ITV2 HD ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD channels, then they would be able to use the old SD versions of the channels instead.

And this is true if you own a Sky HD digibox…with the SD channels up in the 800´s and available to view easily.

But when these HD channels were added to Freesat, the old SD versions have been totally removed from Freesat. So there is now no alternate method to watch ITV2 ITV3 or ITV4 “live”, if your satellite dish cannot receive the ITV HD channels.

The only way is via ITV2 +1, ITV3 +1 and ITV4 +1 channels, ie an hour later.

ITV2 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 113.
ITV2 +1 is available on Freesat Channel 114
ITV3 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 115.
ITV3 +1 is available on Freesat Channel 116
ITV4 HD is now available on Freesat Channel 117.
ITV4 +1 is available on Freesat Channel 118

But assuming you are in my service area, then it may be possible to in tune your satellite dish and LNB to receive these channels.

So please call if you would like your name to be added to the job list to try and retrieve the ITV HD channels on your current satellite system, or if you would like a “non Freesat” receiver that can still receive the SD versions of these channels.
