How to Retune Channels on a Samsung Television
When TV channels change frequencies, broadcasters upgrade from standard definition (SD) to high definition (HD), or when new services launch, your Samsung television may no longer display all available channels correctly. In those cases, performing a channel retune (sometimes called a “rescan”) refreshes your TV’s channel list so it can detect and store all current stations available in your area.
Whether you use your Samsung TV with a digital aerial for terrestrial channels (like TDT), a cable feed, or an external set-top box, a retune is often the first step whenever channels go missing.
Why Retuning Matters
TV broadcast systems evolve over time. Broadcasters regularly:
Update transmission frequencies
Add new channels
Remove old services
Switch from SD to HD or Ultra HD
These changes mean your TV’s stored channel list may no longer match what is being broadcast. As a result, previously visible channels may disappear, or new ones may not show up — until you retune.
And with changes happening in Spain, and around the world, as the industry moves from DVBT to DVBT2, then knowing how to return your TV will be important to keep watching those terrestrial TV signals.
For example, in February 2024, changes will be made to Spanish terrestrial television. ( as per this video a few days ago: Changes to Spanish Terrestrial TV in 2024. Are you ready? )
Your Samsung television may display a different menu system, but the process should be similar.
