Disney Channel Returns to UK TV–Disney Jr Relaunches on Sky
In a surprise move that’s delighting parents and young viewers alike, Disney Jr has returned to UK television today, Thursday 13 November 2025. The much-loved preschool channel, home to hits like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bluey, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends, is once again available as part of Sky’s Sky Kids pack, marking Disney’s first major return to UK linear broadcasting since its channels were pulled in 2020.
A Return to Linear TV After Five Years
Back in 2020, Disney closed all of its UK linear kids’ channels – including Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Jr – as part of a strategic shift to drive viewers toward Disney+, the company’s then-new streaming platform. The move was controversial, effectively ending Disney’s decades-long presence on traditional UK television.
Now, five years later, Disney appears to be re-evaluating that decision. The relaunch of Disney Jr signals a fresh hybrid strategy, blending streaming with linear viewing. While Disney+ remains central to the company’s entertainment ecosystem, the return of Disney Jr shows that there’s still a strong appetite for traditional TV among families with young children, especially for its simplicity and reliability.
Where and How to Watch Disney Jr
The new Disney Jr HD channel joins Sky’s dedicated Kids section and is available to subscribers with the Sky Kids add-on.
On Sky Q and Sky satellite, the channel can be found around number 625.
On Sky Glass and Sky Stream, it appears near channel 204.
However, the new Disney Jr will not be available on NOW TV, Sky’s standalone streaming service, at least for now.
This exclusivity gives Sky subscribers an edge, offering a strong incentive for families looking for quality, safe, child-friendly programming.
What to Expect on the Channel
Disney Jr caters to children aged roughly 2 to 7 years, offering colourful, educational, and entertaining content. Its line-up is expected to include fan favourites such as Mickey Mouse Funhouse, Firebuds, SuperKitties, and Bluey. The channel’s schedule is designed with young viewers’ routines in mind, offering a mix of learning-based stories, musical adventures, and gentle comedy.
The return of Disney Jr also strengthens Sky’s kids’ content offering, sitting alongside Sky Kids’ original shows and other major children’s brands. It’s a timely addition, especially as several UK children’s broadcasters face closures or reduced output.
Why Disney Is Bringing Channels Back
Disney’s decision to relaunch a linear channel in 2025 reflects a broader trend: not every household relies solely on streaming. Many parents prefer the ease of simply turning on a channel without navigating menus or worrying about endless autoplay. In a market where live television is regaining selective appeal, this could be a test case for more Disney channels returning in the future.
A Welcome Comeback for UK Families
For UK families, this marks a welcome return of familiar Disney magic to the Sky TV guide. While the main Disney Channel remains absent for now, the relaunch of Disney Jr shows that traditional television still has an important role to play in a streaming-dominated world.
