There is no one single "best Sky TV frequency" to use. The frequency used by the Sky or Freesat box is determined by the channel you select to view.

So if you select Sky News on your Sky box or Freesat box, the receivers will use frequency 12207 V, as that is the only frequency carrying Sky News. Similarly, if you select BBC News on your Sky box or Freesat box, the receiver will use frequency 11954 H, as that is the only frequency that carries BBC News.

UK satellite TV channels that are Freesat and Sky TV set top boxes are transmitted from four satellites. These satellites, as at Feb 2011, are Astra 2A, Astra 2B, Astra 2D and Eurobird 1. These four satellite use around 90 different transponders to transmit from. Each of these transponders relates to one frequency. Each frequency can carry a number of channels.
