Reprots say that Real Madrid TV channel is to make its debut on the FTA TDT in August following the agreement between Real Madrid football team and the Spanish production company Mediapro, shareholder in the commercial TV channel La Sexta.
Real Madrid TV will take the place in the TDT line-up of the current Marca TV channel, a sports TV channel sponsored by the sports newspaper Marca, and will be made available free-to-air to all households in Madrid, capital of Spain, extending thus its potential reach.
So far, the channel was only available on pay TV through digital platforms, but now, like its counterpart in Catalonia Barca TV, will be accessible FTA and financed by advertising revenues.
TDT is the Spanish equivilent of the UK Freeview service. This allows the reception of a large number of digital TV channels via a TV aerial. UK Freeview is not available in Spain, but some UK and USA imported programmes on TDT can have their audio changed from the dubbed Spanish to their original English.
