    Hi

New installation does not do anything apart from to activate a new sky card down a phone line.

Loss of channels can be down to a number of things:
    dish alignment
    dish too small
    lnb failure
    poor cabling
    water into the cabling
    cable connections
    receiver starting to go.

If you have tried another box on the system then that narrows it down a bit...and eliminates one possibility.

There are no issues with the satellite siganls themselves - otherwise there would be a lot of people calling in, and also 15m satellite users in the UK! Most of the time problems are down to individual systems.

The most common one - the cable is not connected to the receiver or LNB correctly and it is loose and not making a good connection.

HI, Thanks for your answer, the problem is on both my sets, I have two LNB's so I suppose that narrows it down to the dish,I will climb up and have a look today, thanks Sam Stuart

If its a prime focus LNB, then maybe some "nasties" taking up residence inside the LNB? Quite common.
But be very careful in removing them. Do NOT touch the "pin" inside the LNB.

If it is an offset LNB, then make sure the plastic cover on the LNB is intact. Otherwise water or "nasties" gets in and cause problems.

And the next thing is dish alignment issues...

Thanks again, will it be ok to use compressed air? Or should I use a soft brush? Sam Stuart

First have a look and see if there is anything inside.
A bottle of compressed air should be able to remove anything int here, but be careful if using a "straw" on the can not to push it too far inside the LNB and damage the "pin" inside the LNB.
