Radio 4 drops out despite strong signal Costa Blanca area.

Hi,

I've got a Zenhder box attached to a 1.2m dish, and the Freesat TV, BBC!
1 BBC2 ITV CH4 & 5 are all fine. But the radio 2 & 4 drop out every now and then.

It shows signal strength 82% and Quality 74% working fine then suddenly 0% and it drops out for 1-2 seconds.

Then immediately springs back to 82%.

What is going on? i've tried swapping LNB's but no change. I've played with dish alignment, but if it was either of these the TV would normally be the first to suffer?

I need some ideas, where to go next, maybe the Zehnder box is getting a little old, but never been a problem before?

Well, if you ahve tried the LNB, and dish alignment then there are only two other options...

The receiver or cabling.
With the cabling you need to make sure that there are no tears or splits in the cable, where water can get in to the cable and cause a short.
Also, the F connections at either end should maybe be checked or redone. Again making sure there are no shorts casued by the outer touching the inner parts of the cable.

I suppose before buying a new receiver, you could alway borrow one from a friend and try theirs on your system...at least that will narrow it down to the receiver or the system. I know that loss of BBC Radio channels on a Sky Grundig box was the first indication that the receiver was starting to go, do to its capacitors starting to fail...
