Dont think this is quite true...if your router does not support ddwrt - and you need to connect your sky+hd box to a vpn router for it to work - then you will need another router.
Not all routers support ddwrt that is requried for the best VPNs
And this is just one of many VPN services that offer the same service - and some are cheaper!

Hi, Sorry to contradict but the "SmartDNS" service offered by www.overplay.net does not need an active VPN or a DD-WRT compatible router, just a regular router works fine. They just give you a new DNS value which you have to manually put into your Sky box...and it works!!! No software, no extra hardware. Obviously it can't hide your IP like VPN, but....they are not actually looking. The geo-blocking is automated, and if your setup satisfies the criteria for which it checks, then no alarm bells...it just works.

Thats good to know that someone got it working on sky+hd box.
I tried a few smartdns services and it failed on me for many channels / downloads on my sky box - some worked some did not.
so after the evidence suggested they were not reliable, i am probably a bit sceptical about their reliability, which is why i prefer the router and ddwrt option.

I too have tried this. Got a free 1 week trial from Overplay yesterday. All I had to do was stick the IP address they gave me into my Sky box in the Manual config for the network settings, and bingo! I now find it's letting me record anything I want from the On Demand service. Great news, and very good value service at only $4.95 a month (or $49.95 or a year). Thanks jazzzhead for the heads-up on this
