    Hi and welcome.

If you want to receive Freesat then you require a Freesat receiver. You cannot get Freesat on a Sky box.

But your Sky box, even without a sky viewing card, will recieve the same channels as a Freesat receiver.

Freeview is the UK ONLY digital tv service, received by a TV aerial in the UK ONLY.
You cannot receive Freeview in Spain.
You cannot receive FReeview in a Sky box or Freesat box.
Some of the channels available on Freeview for free in the UK, like Dave, Watch, are actually subscription channels on satellite.

Yes, you will probably have to change the default transponder on the SKy box to help the box boot up.
That is all the default transponder does on a Sky box. It does nothing for individual channel reception.

But note that over the next few months, reception of UK TV channels, especially those from BBC ITV C4 and Five, is expected to change. When these channels move to the new Astra 2F satellite, it is hightly likely your 1m dish in Torrevieja will not be able to receive the maain UK TV channels (BBC ITV C4 and Fives). At the moment we have no idea what sized dish you need for reception of these chanenls on Astra 2F ( http://www.satandpcguy.com/Site/astr...k_tv_spain.php )

The irish channels are stronger than what? Bit difficult to compare strength when you dont state what you are comparing it to !

Most Irish channels are not available on Freesat, but require a sky viewing card registered in Ireland.

ITV1 Ulster, which is available for free with no viewing card, shares the same frequency as a number of other ITV1 regions, so it is not the strongest ITV1 region.
And it will certainly not be the strongest frequency, as there are other frequencies that carry other channels that can be received on much smaller dishes than that required for ITV1Ulster.

The process for standard Sky boxes is:
On the remote control press Services, 4, 0, 1, select, 2, input frequency, save, sky button, wait.

The process for standard Sky boxes is:
On the remote control press Services, 0, 0, 1, select, right, down, input frequency, save, sky button, wait.

You do this all on the remote control.
Ignore what menu options are on the screen until after you press the "01 select"
The "0" option do not apper on the actual screen and are "hidden" until you complete the process and press select on the remote.
