The BBC's live coverage of the Championship campaign will start with Newcastle United's opening-day trip to West Bromwich Albion on 8 August. The BBC will show 10 live Championship games during the 2009/10 season and has announced details of the first four.

Ipswich vs Newcastle - live on BBC One at 1730 BST

Saturday 24th October
Derby vs QPR - live on BBC Two at 1730 BST

Sunday 1st November
Cardiff vs Forest - live on BBC One at 1400 BST

The BBC will also screen the two legs of the Carling Cup semi-finals not covered by Sky; the Carling Cup final (simultaneously with Sky) and Football League and Carling Cup highlights. All the goals from every game in the Football League, Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be shown on the BBC website in the UK.
