The rumour of the news section ref. sky italia fighting card sharing is true.
A new implementation of NDS algorythm has knocked down all non official boxes.
This is not a simple fix,it is a major update .
Soon to be implemented by sky uk and deutschland.

I know that things have been happening with Sky Italia cards on non-Sky Italia boxes, but the rumour part is if and when it will be applied to Sky UK boxes, and if it will stop all Sky UK cards working on non Sky boxes. Huge impact on many people using darkboxes for Sky Viewing cards.

It is not rumour,it is definite.
When sky uk implements soon the new algorythm all darkboxes,dreamboxes and all non-sky receivers will stop working.

Cardsharing networks are becoming a plague and our company,despite not being hit by this so far,approves every move applied by providers to stop it.

Hi guys
Dont want to baffle everone out there with science but the way Sky have gone about this has not been thought out very well. By extending the lenth of the ecm from 156 to 168 and changing the len values they are surely going to shoot themselves in the foot as they are already strugling for bandwidth with HD etc. If they have done this as an attempt to cut out card share i think they are undermining the stealth at which card share teams will crack this as CC Cam 2.1.3 is delayed for release now due late November watch this space . Mark my words this will not stop CS for long. I know the forum does not allow topics on card share but im just keeping the scare mongers in place. When Sky italia started to make this attack i wonder how many genuine subscribers were affected especially those with older boxes at nearly a grand for a sub not the best way to make friends. Its a typical murdoch half hearted attempt . He would be better wasting his money closing down the lokes of MDC etc who happly defraud sky out of hundreds of thousands per year

would it really affect older boxes?

dont forget that as part of the card swap and migration to NDS3 all receivers required the downloading of the 3.7 or 3.6 version software for basic boxes, and all HD and s+ boxes have had software updated in the last few months, so from the software side of things a change in algorythm should be covered.

and there was a post on another forum that suggested that sky UK have been testing this out in the early hours of the day on some of their channels.....

and i am sure it will not affect the speed of some of the older sky uk boxes, as it still takes some makes / models of them about a week to change channels, so an increase in delay by an hours would not go unnoticed!

but then it will only be a matter of time before they manage to bypass it andhave them back on to CS networks...just as it can only be a mtter of time before the software becomes available again for "multicam " receivers to read Sky SPorts and Movies channels again.

it has been reported that Sky UK tried this code in the last few weeks..again top try and see if they could limit / stop Sky UK card sharing....according to the reports they tried it on one channel during the night - Sky 3.

And it worked - to an extent.

NDS 3 white Sky cards did not work for the specific channel for the duration of the test on non sky receivers (mainly the linux receivers mainly used for CS)

BUT

It also caused a problems as it also knocked out the channel on some older Sky recievers. Sky mentioned "technical problems" for one or two users affected who contact them.

This information has been posted on various CS forums, and is a hot topic at the moment, especially if / when this new version if fully impliemented, and the implications of sky card in non sky receivers. it may only be short or medium term, but as with most things, given time, i am sure that new software / emulators will become available for non sky receiver to fully read the new cards again.

True.
The party is nearly over for non official receiver users.
The thing saving them up to now is the oldest batch of sky boxes dated 1998 to 2002.
These boxes showed problems in decrypting the new algorythm,and many people are still using them becuse they were supplied for free under a subsidized contract.These people would need to pay the full price to get a new box(only one free box is allowed per household),and so preferred to keep the old ones even if they are a lot slower than recent models.

Sky Italy does not have this problem because in those years they were not operating yet.All their receivers are more recent and able to work with the new algorythm.
