Sogecable's satellite pay-TV operator Digital+ is planning to extend the number of HD channels offered to 20 by the end of this year. At present the Spanish operator offers 13 HD services. And according to market sources one new HD signal could be given over to Canal+ Fútbol HD.

Canal+ Fútbol HD would offer international soccer leagues via satellite such as the English Premier League or Italy's Serie A in HD, with many LIVE matches.

Currently the platform has three frequencies on Astra 19.2º E satellite for its HD transmissions. But there are reception / technology problems on one frequency so the operator decided to change it and move the signal of some channels to another. Digital+ recently leased another Astra 19.2º E transponder where it is now transmitting the channels having reception problems.

So the operator needs space in a frequency without problems for the launch of a new HD TV channel.

Digital+’s latest HD channel launch was classical and jazz music channel Mezzo Live HD.
