1.4 m dish

Have read the info over what satellites are used and when received, but cannot establish (not clever enough) what channel is on what satellite.
A simple question, house in Catral (30k South of Alicante and 15K inland) bring my sky box and card over, have a 1.4 dish installed - would I receive and at what times BBC1 and/ or ITV1 (and would I receive any other BBC or ITV channels for any part of the day).
Advice much appreciated.

fore th UK TV systems the channels are spread over 5 satellites, Astra 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d and Eurobird 1.
BBC And ITV are transmitted mainly from Astra 2D - the weakest satellite.
Some ITVs are transmitted from Astra 2B...but these require a Sky card to unlock.

On that size dish you will not get bbc2,3,4 or c4 at all. you will also not get some ITV regions.

you will get bbc1 and ITV1 using the stronger BBC Channel Islands (988) and ITV Channels Islands (see the sticky on extra Sky channels).
you may get ITV2,3,4 and C4+1
but you will not get these 24/7 - they may well drop out at night / early evening.

I forgot to mention that I will bring my sky card with the box each time I come so it will unlock the ones you mention.
Is my understanding from what you say, I should get BBC1 and ITV1 most of the day plus a fair number of the sky channels I pay for in the UK.
I take it that even with a 1.4 dish the Portugese dish is the best as you have stated for the 1.9 and 2.4 dishes.

it should do, if your dish can pick up the astra2b siganls, which you can try by trying to see if you get Sky Three.

Yes. As far as I know.

The Famaval Prime Focus dish is the most popular dish in Spain. If you have got he room and you can spend the money upgrade to get bbc and itv for longer and with a more stable signal.

I am struggling to purchase a 1.4 dish, but EnglishBullTerrier can supply a 1.1 dish (I am in Catral).
Mixing together this forum and Torre forum and your STICKYS, a 1.1 will get (with my sky box and card) all 2a and 2b South beam. The channels that say Fixed, are they receivable on a 1.1 and there are some that say S1, are these receivable with a 1.1.
PS is there anywhere in your area that you know that will sell me a 1.4 (or could you).

i have heard that some of the big dishes are in short supply again....

Yes - Fixed and S1 beams are quite strong and you should be able to get some of the channels on a 1.1
for example, on my 80cm dish i get Movies for Men - on a fixed beam, and things like true movies on a spot beam.
sometime they do "go funny" during heavy cloud, but then can happen on most dishes.

PS is there anywhere in your area that you know that will sell me a 1.4 (or could you).

i dont supply i am afraid, and do not deal with 1.4s in my area as they are not really worth it (they just dont perform like they do down there!)
