yes the distance from the dish to the end of the feedhorn is very critical, and varys from dish to dish...1.8m dishes should be either 73 or 76.4cm, a famaval portuguese dish is 93cm.
the skew of the LNB is also very critical, and does affect the reception of certain channels.
generally the cable connections need to be about 200 degrees.(ie about 7 o clock).
