The main UK TV broadcasters all offer “on Demand, Catch up and Video on Demand” services. They allow you to watch programmes that have been shown on their channels that you may have missed. For example most BBC programmes are available on BBC iPlayer usually within the hour of being shown on TV, and is available for about 2 to three weeks afterwards.

Some On Demand and Catch Up TV services do require user registration to use.

BBC iPlayer, commonly shortened to iPlayer, is a service that lets you catch up with radio and television. The BBC iPlayer is an online video on demand service.

The BBC iPlayer service offers a variety of programmes from BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4 CBBC and CBeebies. Some programmes, imports and movies are not currently available due to rights issues.

Broadcasting rights agreements mean that BBC iPlayer television programmes are only available to users to download or stream (Click to Play) in the UK. Most radio programmes are available outside the UK in addition to podcasts, although sporting and other programmes may be subject to rights agreements.

ITV Hub in Spain.

ITV Hub (ITV Player) is a service that lets you catch up with ITV television programmes from the past week. ITV Hub (ITV Player) is an online video on demand service.

The service offers a variety of programmes from home-grown programming to imports across ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV. Some programmes, imports and movies are not currently available due to rights issues.

The service was originally called ITV Catch Up but was then rebranded as ITV Player on 5 December 2008 as part of ITV’s aim to create a recognisable and consistent brand for video-on-demand content across the web and TV. In 20015 ITV Player was rebranded as ITV Hub

4OD in Spain. 4 On Demand in Spain.

All4, previously known as 4 on Demand, is a video on demand service from Channel Four Television Corporation. Launched in November 2006, 4oD stands for “4 on Demand”.

The service offers a variety of programmes from home-grown programming to imports across Channel 4, E4, More4 or from their archives. Some programmes, imports and movies are not currently available due to rights issues.

Demand Five in Spain.

Demand Five is a video on demand service from Channel 5 in the United Kingdom. The service, which was previously known as ‘Five Download’, went live on 26 June 2008.

The service offers a variety of programmes from home-grown programming to imports across Channel Five, Five* and Five USA. Some programmes, imports and movies are not currently available due to rights issues.

Sky On Demand / Sky Anytime+ in Spain.

On 26 October 2010 BSkyB launched Sky Anytime+. In September 2012, Anytime+ was rebranded as On Demand, along with the addition of a Catch-up TV section in the guide. Sky On Demand is a service that lets you catch up with television programmes from the large range of Sky channels.

The Sky Anytime+ / On Demand service differs from the original Sky Anytime service, as is allows the user to select programmes they wanted to watch from a vast library, rather than a selection as offered by the Anytime service.

Sky Anytime+ / On Demand relies on a Sky+HD digiboxes connection to a broadband / ADSL line. This connection is used to download the selected programme.

Sky Anytime+ / On Demand content is available to play almost immediately, with little of no buffering. Other content requires time to download before running entirely without buffering.

Sky’s Now TV in Spain

 

Now TV is an internet television service from Sky TV. It was launched on 17 July 2012.

Now TV from Sky is available to watch with a Now TV branded box that was launched in July 2013. This Now TV box is similar to some Smart TV boxes.

Now TV is also available using a PC or Mac, or as an app on iOS devices, selected Android phones, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Accessing the On Demand and Catch Up TV in Spain – Use a UK TV Router for UK TV
