As we reported a few weeks ago ( ) the launch of the third and final Astra 2 satellite for use for UK satellite TV, has been delayed.

The Astra 2G satellite has received the required U.S. shipping license and was ready to be sent to Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome for launch, but that the liftoff had been delayed from June until sometime between July and September.

Astra 2G was one of the first satellites whose shipping licenses needed action by the U.S. government, due to U.S. sanctions on Russia in response to Russia’s dealings with Ukraine.

Astra 2G launch date has slipped, from June to a date between July and September. The cause was not international relations but down to a queue of Russian and commercial launches.
