Non Freesat Mode on Freesat Humax Foxsat Receivers
The number of channels currently available on the Freesat EPG (electronic
programme guide) is only a fraction of what is available via the Astra2 /
Eurobird satellite your dish is pointed to. As Freesat gets its channels
from the same satellite as Sky Digital, and there are a number of other
satellite TV and radio channels available - these are called Free-to-Air
channels, and are not part of the Freesat EPG. That does not mean that they
are not available.
One example is Sky News. Sky News is a free to air TV channels, but it is
not available on the Freesat EPG.
But it is possible to view this and all the other free to air (FTA) channels
by accessing the manual tune feature on your Humax FOXSAT-HD / HDR digital
box. This is known as Non Freesat Mode. By scanning all the available
frequencies, you can add certain extra free to air TV and radio channels
that are not available from the "official" Freesat EPG.
This is the process for the Freesat Humax receivers. It is available on
other Freesat receivers, where the process may not be the same, but it will
be very similar.
Using the Freesat remote control:
MENU
SETUP
MANUAL TUNE
SEARCH

Once you have carried out the search (which can take some time!) you will be
taken into non Freesat mode, where you can view the channels.
To switch between Freesat and non Freesat mode you need to select the
following menu options:
MENU
SETTINGS
STB MODE (press the right arrow to switch between the two modes then press
ok)
Obviously the channel numbers between Freesat and Non Freesat Mode will be
different.
