Add the missing Great TV channels back onto your Freesat box
If you’ve recently noticed that the Great! TV channels have disappeared from your Freesat channel list, it’s important to understand what’s actually happened. The channels have not closed down — and they have not left satellite. They are still broadcasting free-to-air and even remain available on the Sky EPG. What has changed is their presence on the Freesat Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).
Great! TV is a group of British television channels showcasing a range of classic and contemporary series, movies, and themed programming blocks. Over the years, channels under the Great! TV umbrella — including Great! TV, Great! Movies, and related spin-offs — built a loyal audience on Freesat thanks to accessible free-to-air entertainment that appeals to fans of comedy, drama, thriller and retro titles.
Butr recently these Great TV channels have been removed from the Freesat channel list — but the signals are still there.
This means a standard Freesat retune won’t bring them back. Because they are no longer part of the Freesat EPG data stream, your box won’t automatically list them in the normal channel guide.
From time to time, channels move platforms, alter carriage agreements, or decide not to remain on certain EPG listings. When that happens, Freesat receivers no longer display them in the numbered channel guide — even though the broadcast continues on the Astra satellites at 28.2°E.
Sky receivers can still list the channels because they are carried within Sky’s EPG structure. Freesat, however, only shows services included in its official lineup.
To continue watching Great! TV channels on a Freesat box, you’ll need to access your receiver’s manual tuning or “non-Freesat mode” option.
Most Freesat receivers (including models from Humax and other manufacturers) include a hidden or secondary tuning mode that allows you to scan individual satellite transponders. This lets you add free-to-air channels that are not officially listed on the Freesat EPG.
A few weeks ago, Narrative Entertainment removed their channels from the Freesat satellite service.
This meant that Freesat lost nine channels, including Great Movies, Great Action, Great TV, and POP channels.

According to reports, this was simply down to them deciding not to renew their agreement to have their channels on the Freesat channel guide.
However, the channels are still transmitting on the UK TV satellites, as they are still available on Sky digiboxes.
But even though they are not available on Freesat, they are still available on Freesat boxes, in “non freesat mode”.
And this is how to add them to three Freesat set top boxes.
