Freeview is a UK only TV service received via a TV aerial and transmitted by land based TV masts, like Emley Moor and Crystal Palace.
No one in Spain can receive UK Freeview signals.
It is impossible.
So you friend may be using the incorrect terminology for what system they actually have.
Many people incorrectly use the term Freeview as a general term for UK TV. And where they use the term, Freeview, they may mean something completely different.
Free to air channels are channels that are free to watch, no subscription required, and free from encryption (no viewing card required)
Free to view are channels that are free to watch, no subscription required, but are encrypted so need a viewing card to watch.
Freeview is a selection of free to air channels received via a TV aerial.
Freesat is a selection of free to air channels received via a satellite dish.
