Pay Digital TV Spain – TDT Premium / Pay TDT
Televisión Digital Terrestre (Terrestrial Digital Television) also know as TDT, is Spain’s version of the UK’s Freeview system.
Digital TV in Spain provides digital television channels via your normal terrestrial TV aerial on the roof.
Between 2009 and 2015 there were a few Pay Digital TV channels available on TDT.
The first Pay Digital TV channel on TDT was GOL TV.
TDT Premium
You will require a TDT receiver with the TDT Premium label and a slot for inserting a smart card to access pay TDT content.
In some cases newer LCD and Plasma TVs have built in slot that will accept the TDT Premium viewing card – in come cases a separate card reader (CAM) may be required.
The TDT PREMIUM CAM and smartcard enables to receive encoded terrestrial TV channels from operators providing services compatible to tdt PREMIUM. By inserting the smartcard into the conditional access module (CAM) you can receive scrambled channels on your TV without having to install an additional receiver. Compatible TV sets, like Sony, Philips and other brands, are listed on the website www.tdtpremium.es.
The first Pay TV on TDT was GOL TV – a football channel, which shows a number or football matches from various leagues around the world, including the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. GOL TV ceased transmitting on TDT in July 2015.
It is available via a monthly subscription of 14.99€. It primarily has the rights to the Spanish La Liga, but does also have the rights to many other football league as well, including some English Premier League matches.
For GOL TV you will require a GOL TV viewing card, and a receiver capable of accepting / reading the GOL TV viewing card.
GOL TV ceased transmission in 2015. It was replaced by BeIN Sports Espana, available on some cable TV operators and online only. BeIN Sports Espana is NOT available on TDT in Spain.
