ITV complete HD channel changes on Satellite
Three ITV1HD regions (Central West, London and Meridian East) have changed satellite frequencies in the last day or so.
These three ITV1HD regions have moved from their old “borrowed from sky” frequencies, to frequencies operated by ITV themselves.
This is the final part of the process to remove all unnecessary standard definition channels, and make HD channels default, as per our previous posts on the matter.
On Satellite, Freesat and Sky HD boxes will automatically update whenever channels change frequencies. On rare occasions when they do not update, reboot your box, which automatically updates channel frequencies.
If using another type of receiver, then you will have to perform a manual channel scan to get these three ITV1HD regions on their new frequencies.
In my service area (Valencia and Costa Blanca North), this means that for these three ITV1HD regions, reception will have improved. This is because the new frequency is a lot stronger in my service area than their previous frequency. The reason for these three ITV1HD regions to be transmitted separately from the other ITV HD channels, is because ITV did not have sufficient space on their frequencies on to fit all the extra HD regions. So ITV used Sky’s satellite frequencies for three HD regions. So if you get ITV2 HD, 3HD and 4HD, you will get ITV1 HD, they are all on the same frequencies.
Update 14/01/25
The following ITV1 HD regions have switched transponder on Sky today. They moved on Freesat boxes a few days ago:
London 12363V -> 11386V
Central West 12168V -> 11386H
Meridian East 12226H -> 11344H
The versions on the old frequencies have been removed.
