New Era for the Women’s FA Cup: TNT Sports and Channel 4 Take Over Coverage
Starting from the 2025–26 season, the Women’s FA Cup will embark on a new broadcasting journey, as TNT Sports and Channel 4 have secured a three-year deal to televise the competition through to the 2027–28 campaign. This marks a significant shift from the BBC’s long-standing coverage since 2013, aiming to enhance visibility and accessibility for women’s football across the UK.
Under this agreement, TNT Sports will broadcast 19 matches each season, including, for the first time, one match from both the first and second rounds. Channel 4 will air one match per round starting from the third round, with all five of Channel 4’s selected matches, and the Final also airing on TNT Sports. Both broadcasters will have their own presenters, pundits, and commentary teams, offering diverse perspectives and in-depth analysis.
This broadcasting partnership is poised to significantly elevate the profile of the Women’s FA Cup, providing fans with unprecedented access to live matches and comprehensive coverage. The collaboration between TNT Sports and Channel 4 underscores a commitment to promoting women’s football and ensuring that the excitement of the competition reaches a broader audience.
The enhanced coverage is expected to attract new fans and provide greater exposure for clubs and players, contributing to the continued growth and professionalization of women’s football in the UK. By bringing more matches to television screens and offering diverse commentary and analysis, this deal represents a substantial step forward in the promotion and development of the women’s game.
In a parallel development, the men’s FA Cup will also see a new broadcasting arrangement beginning with the 2025–26 season. TNT Sports has secured a four-year deal with the Football Association to broadcast the competition, sharing rights with the BBC, which will continue to provide free-to-air coverage. Under this agreement, the BBC will air 14 live matches per season, including two matches from each round up to the quarter-finals, one semi-final, and the final. Additionally, the BBC will offer highlights and digital clips across its platforms. TNT Sports will broadcast every match live from the competition’s third round onwards, excluding the traditional Saturday 3pm kick-offs due to the UK’s broadcasting blackout rules. This partnership ensures that the FA Cup remains accessible to a broad audience while also expanding the availability of live matches through TNT Sports’ platforms. The collaboration between TNT Sports and the BBC reflects a commitment to maintaining the FA Cup’s prominence in the football calendar and providing fans with comprehensive coverage of this historic competition.
