The Manhattan S4-R is Manhattan’s latest Freesat recorder, launched in 2026 as the successor to the earlier Freesat 4K recorder. Designed for viewers who want subscription-free satellite television with modern recording features, the S4-R combines live TV, catch-up services and multi-channel recording in a single easy-to-use receiver.

Available with 500GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options, the S4-R can record up to four programmes simultaneously when connected to a compatible wideband or SCR (Unicable) satellite system, or up to two recordings on a traditional universal LNB installation. It also supports pause and rewind of live TV, Series Link recording, and access to popular on-demand services including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, 5 and YouTube when connected to the internet.

The receiver is compatible with most existing Freesat and Sky satellite dish installations, including modern Sky Q wideband systems, making it an ideal upgrade for many existing satellite TV users. During installation it automatically detects the type of satellite system connected, helping to simplify setup.

On the following pages you’ll find a growing collection of Manhattan S4-R guides, tutorials, tips and troubleshooting articles, covering everything from first-time setup and hidden menus to advanced features, recording options and technical information discovered through hands-on testing of the receiver.
