Recently (2014), some Sky TV customers using SkyHD and Sky+HD Digiboxes will have seen the following message on their TV screen:

“We need to update your service. Please give us some info at skyviewinghelp.com”

This message is part of some new Sky security software, and they need some information from your Sky box which they do not have.

The information that Sky require is the Sky Digibox Receiver ID.

Sky will not have this information, as it is a new piece of information generated by the latest Sky digibox software.

If you do not provide this information, then not only will the message continue to appear, but you may lose access to some of your Sky Sports, Sky Movies and Sky HD
channels

The follow information will need to be supplied:

Press the Services button on your Sky remote control.
Scroll/press the right arrow key ONCE so it highlights the spanner sign SETTINGS
Scroll/press the down arrow key ONCE to highlight PICTURE
Scroll/press the right arrow key TWICE so it highlights the DETAILS tab.

What to do if you live in the UK
Simply go to www.skyviewinghelp.com and input the details.
Once you have input the details, then the message should disappear.

What to do if you live in Spain 
You need to provide your Sky card dealer with these details, who will contact Sky and supply these details on your behalf.
DO NOT CONTACT SKY YOURSELF FROM SPAIN. DO NOT GO TO THE SKYVIEWINGHELP WEBSITE YOURSELF.
IF YOU GO TO THE WEBSITE IT MAY LOG YOUR SPANISH IP INTERNET ADDRESS AND THUS INFORMING SKY THAT YOU ARE USING YOUR SKY CARD IN SPAIN.

IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO COMPLETE THE INFORMATION USING A VPN SERVICE THT PROVIDES YOU WITH A UK IP ADDRESS – but I am accepting no responsibility if you do this and your card is switched off!
