The BBC will offer up to 15 HD live streams from this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament in addition to 153 hours of coverage across BBC One and BBC Two.
In addition last year’s unpopular highlights programme Wimbledon 2Day has been axed, and will revert to the original “Today At Wimbledon” name and be presented by Clare Balding, alongside two expert guests every day on BBC Two. The hour-long round-up will “focus on the main matches and key talking points from the day’s play as The Championship builds to its climax”, according to the BBC.
Last year’s revamp of the highlights programme, which included rebranding it “Wimbledon 2Day” was was widely criticised by viewers for failing to provide enough focus on the day’s play. The BBC had to make adjustments to the format of the programme mid-way through the 2015 tournament, ditching the controversial on-screen audience standing in the background.
