Channel 5 Fiver Five USA Satellite TV Channels Costa Blanca Spain
The Channel 5 Satellite TV Channels, comprising of 5, Fiver, Five USA, are transmitted from two satellites in the same "constellation". On one satellite they are available for free, with no viewing card, whilst on the other satellite they require a Sky viewing card to view.
The Channel Five channels are split between two satellites, one has a vey strong signal for the Costa Blanca, and the other has a weak signal.
The channels on the stronger signal satellite include Five, Fiver, Fiver+1, Five USA and Five USA+1. This signal can be received on an 80cm satellite dish around most of Europe. As this signal can be received on a smaller dish, these channels are encrypted and do require a Sky viewing card to view.
On the weaker satellite, Astra 2D, there are two "beams", vertical and horizontal. The channels on the vertical frequencies tend to be much stronger than those on the horizontal frequencies. There is a version of FIVE (only Five and not Fiver Five USA etc) on the weaker horizontal frequencies.
Reception of the frequencies on Astra 2D are the ones that require a "big dish". So you are able to receive channel 5 without a Sky viewing card in Spain, but reception is limited to a big dish, and even then full 24/7 viewing of this "Freesat" version of Five will be limited in the Costa Blanca.

Channel Five TV Channels
Channel Five
(or Five) is a
television channel that broadcasts in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Launched
in 1997, it is the fifth and final national terrestrial analogue television
channel to launch. Originally called Channel 5, the station rebranded itself as
Five in 2002.
The channel's launch on Sunday 30 March 1997, at 6:00 pm featured the Spice
Girls singing a re-written version of Manfred Mann's hit "5-4-3-2-1"
Since 2002, the broadcaster has pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy, and
has screened several of the highest-rating American dramas, including Grey's
Anatomy, all three CSI franchises, House, three of the Law & Order franchises,
The Mentalist and Prison Break. The channel also poached talk-show host Trisha
Goddard from ITV to shore up its daytime schedule and Neighbours after a bidding
war with other broadcasters. As a public service broadcaster, Five is required
to show educational programmes, including some documentaries such as the Hidden
Lives, Revealed and Extraordinary People series.
Fiver is a
free-to-view television channel in the United Kingdom owned by Five. The channel
launched as "Five Life" on 15 October 2006, and was rebranded as "Fiver" on 28
April 2008. The channel is available on digital television via Freeview, Sky
Digital (including the Freesat from Sky service), TalkTalk TV and Virgin Media.
It is not currently available on Freesat but Five state on their website that
they are "working on it". It was originally launched alongside Five USA by Five,
in order to create a multi-channel strategy, which other analogue broadcasters
had already achieved. Fiver broadcasts between 6am and midnight (but closes at
11pm on Freeview), and transmits programmes for a mixed audience. During weekend
mornings, an extended version of the children's' strand Milkshake! is currently
broadcast on Fiver.
Five USA is
a free-to-view entertainment television channel in the United Kingdom owned by
Five, launched on 16 October 2006 as "Five US" and was the second digital
channel to be launched by Five as part of their multi-channel strategy, the
first being Fiver. Five USA concentrates on showing imported movies and
programmes from the United States, originally broadcast from 4:00 pm to 1:00 am,
extending its hours starting at 12 noon in June 2007. The channel changes its
programme slots and shows from time to time. Five USA is shown on Freeview,
IPTV, digital cable and Sky. It is not currently available on Freesat, but Five
state on their website that they are "working on it". On 28 August 2007, Five
USA launched a timeshift channel named Five USA +1 available on Sky Digital.
