In a move that marks the end of an era for music television in the UK, Channel 4 has officially closed its iconic Box music channels.

The Box was a UK-based music television channel launched in 1992, known for its interactive format where viewers could select music videos via phone or text message, pioneering the concept of “jukebox TV.” Owned by Channel 4 and part of The Box Plus Network, it primarily features current chart hits and popular music across genres. The channel gained popularity for its unique approach, allowing fans to influence the playlist.

The Box, along with the other Channel 4 owned music channels 4music, Magic, Kerrang! and Kiss, ceased transmission at 0000 on the 1st July 2024.
