Arabsat Satellite TV Channels

The Arabsat constellation of satellites is located at 26 degrees east of south, and are primarily used for transmitting to the Middle East. However some of the signals can be picked up in Spain, even  on an 80cm satellite dish.

Nilesat Satellite TV Channels

Many of the television channels on Arabsat are also available on Nilesat 7W, but i have found that these on Arabsat are much stronger. This means that they are easily accessible on an 80cm dish with a motorised dish system (where other companies would install a second dish for Nilesat!). And with the latest motors you can ensure that your satellite dish moves between the satellites quickly. Most satellite receivers / digiboxes produced these days can be made to control the movement of the satellite dish and aim it at the correct satellite.

The advantage of Nile sat is that you need to point your satellite at this satellite if you want to receive the Showtime channels, including the Showtime Sports channels that will (until the 2009 /10 season) show EVERY UK Premier League football match. More on Showtime on Nilesat

From the 2010 2011 season, English Premier League football matches will be shown live on ADMC Sports, who won the rights to show all 380 games LIVE from Showtime. More on ADMC Sport on Nilesat

There are a few free English audio television channels of interest on Arabsat, that you can view on any generic digital satellite receiver. These include BBC World News.

However the bonus of the Arabsat system is that you can receive the MBC and FOX group of channels. These have many English TV programmes on them, many from the USA and UK.

MBC is a group of free to air channels provide many films and tv programmes in English. There are four channels that show action drama and movies during the day. However the only drawback being that they do have Arabic subtitles!  The channels include MBC 2, MBC 4, MBC Action, MBC Max.

Fox Movies is a dedicated free to air movie channel, showing the 20th Century Fox movie catalogue.

Dubai One is a channel that shows many US dramas and action series.

MBC Max is a 24 hour film channel. It broadcasts middle of the road film content for family viewing. Broadcast movies contain little if any, swearing, violence or, sexual content. The aim of MBC Max is to offer more choice of films with the intention of broadcasting a greater number of film premieres and 'first-time-on-TV' movies.

MBC Action is a 24 hour film and TV series channel. It broadcasts films from the 'action' genre and a wide variety of action-packed TV series aimed specifically at male audiences. Some of the broadcast movies contain swearing, violence and sexual content.

MBC Persia is (mainly) a 24 hour film channel offering the best in global movies around the clock from a wide range of blockbusters of all genres such as comedy, action, drama, romance and others, but it also features some of the top American TV series. Mainly shows movies that are suitable for family viewing

MBC2 is a 24 hour film channel broadcasting (mainly) American Hollywood movies, but it also, occasionally features British, Canadian, French, Indian, Chinese and other foreign films. MBC 2 has long-term deals with several top Hollywood studios, securing first-run right and ensuring a steady flow of the top box-office movies.

MBC4 is a 24 hour broadcaster of popular American television series and programmes with a couple of weekly films (mainly romantic) thrown in for good measure. A major deal with Warner Bros. ensures that all the top American TV series are aired on MBC4. Programming is slanted towards female audiences and family viewing

Fox Movies is a 24 hour film channel. Broadcasting films from all genres - comedy, drama, action, sci-fi, horror and thrillers. Given its connections to Hollywood through 20th Century Fox Studios, Fox Movies offers an excellent choice of movies. Some of the broadcast movies contain swearing, violence and sexual content

Fox Series is a 24 hour general entertainment TV channel entirely dedicated to the best of television series. The channel provides smart entertainment with an edge to viewers across the Middle East. The Fox Series Channel is a Middle Eastern version of the American Fox Channel and offers viewers a sensational line-up of award-winning television series.

Dubai One is a 24 hour general entertainment TV channel broadcasting (mainly, but not exclusively) syndicated programming from America, occasionally showing programmes from the United Kingdom and Australia. In addition, Dubai One TV currently offers three movies per night.
