Why am I experiencing buffering and pausing when using iPlayer on my Amazon Fire TV?

Some viewers attempting to watch BBC iPlayer on their Amazon Fire TV device are experiencing issues with playback in that it frequently pauses and buffers.
The iPlayer team are currently investigating this issue.
For now, there is a workaround for this.
Try the following:
Exit the iPlayer app by pressing back on the remote
Open iPlayer once again from the Home Screen
Select a programme or channel to watch
If your device is turned off, you may need to do the above once again.

We’re aware that some viewers attempting to watch BBC iPlayer on their Amazon Fire TV device are experiencing issues with playback in that it frequently pauses and buffers.
Amazon have now released an update to fix this issue with v 2.1.220000577 of the app.
Ensure you are using the updated iPlayer app. To update:
1. Go to the App Store and search for BBC iPlayer. Select it and a prompt to update should appear.
2. Go to the Homepage and find BBC iPlayer and use the Menu button on the Fire Remote, an option to update should appear.
You can check which version you are using by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Select BBC iPlayer.
