GB News – No Signal issues?
If you’ve recently found that GB News is showing a “no signal” message on your satellite receiver, you’re not alone. The issue has affected a number of viewers, particularly those using non-Sky or non-Freesat equipment, and is linked to a recent change in how the channel is broadcast via satellite.
The problem is not caused by a fault with your dish or a general signal outage. Instead, GB News has moved to a new satellite frequency, which means some receivers are no longer tuned to the correct signal. As a result, the channel may appear to have disappeared completely or display a “no signal” warning.
GB News has switched its satellite transmission to a new frequency and beam, moving from the UK-focused spot beam to a wider European beam. This change actually improves reception across much of Europe — including areas like southern Spain — but it also requires receivers to update to the new broadcast settings.
For users of Sky and Freesat boxes, this process is handled automatically. These devices regularly update their channel lists, meaning most viewers on these platforms will not notice any disruption.
However, the situation is different for those using:
- Generic satellite receivers
- Older non-Sky boxes
- TVs with built-in satellite tuners
These devices do not always update frequencies automatically, which is why the channel may suddenly stop working.
Viewers using these other types of satellite receiver will have to manually “scan” or retune their channels.
The solution is usually straightforward: you need to manually retune your receiver.
This typically involves:
- Going into your receiver’s menu
- Selecting manual tuning or satellite scan
- Entering the new frequency details
- Saving the updated channel
The exact steps will vary depending on your device, but performing a full satellite scan will often find the channel automatically.

GB News, a British television channel established in 2021, is known for its commitment to diverse perspectives and an alternative approach to news coverage. Positioned as a counterbalance to mainstream media, the channel covers a range of topics, including news, politics, and cultural issues, fostering open discussions and varied opinions. GB News emphasizes viewer engagement, encouraging audience participation through social media and interactive elements. While it has faced both praise and criticism for its editorial stance, the channel’s commitment to offering an alternative voice in the media landscape has made it a notable addition to the UK news scene.

Why didn’t GBNews warn their viewers about these changes. I’ve been worrying about irregular interference in my signal for weeks now. Has the problem been finally resolved? I’ve rescanned several times over the last few weeks with no effect.
This post is from Nov 2023, when GB New changed frequencies on satellite.
Many people use Sky or Freesat boxes, which automatically update whenever channel change frequencies, so no real need to mention this.
But perhaps it was on their website at the time?
But as of today GB News is still on satellite, on frequency : 11671 H DVB-S2 8PSK 23000 2/3, where it has been since Nov 2023
