Channel 4 & UKTV’s Game-Changing Streaming Partnership
In October 2025, Channel 4 and UKTV unveiled a landmark multi-year deal that will see UKTV’s “U” streaming service integrated into Channel 4’s own streaming platform from January 2026.
It’s the first time Channel 4 Streaming will host a third-party service, and the move is part of Channel 4’s wider strategy to strengthen its digital offering and attract a broader audience.
Under the agreement, viewers will gain access to hundreds of shows from UKTV’s U service — both box sets and catch-up titles. This includes UKTV originals like Outrageous, Bergerac, Big Zuu’s Big Eats, Bangers & Cash, and Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, as well as fan favourites such as The Office, Red Dwarf, QI, The Count of Monte Cristo, and MasterChef Australia.
For Channel 4, the deal significantly expands the range and depth of its streaming catalogue, adding new layers of comedy, drama, entertainment, and factual programming to complement its existing slate of distinctive originals. It also aligns with Channel 4’s “Fast Forward” strategy — a plan to evolve into the UK’s leading free public service streaming platform over the next few years.
From UKTV’s perspective, the partnership extends the reach of U to millions of additional viewers, particularly those in Channel 4’s younger streaming demographic. Importantly, U will continue to operate as a standalone platform while benefiting from the increased exposure offered by Channel 4’s ecosystem.
Advertisers also stand to gain from the deal. By pooling audiences and content libraries, both broadcasters can offer more opportunities for brands to connect with viewers in a premium, free-to-stream environment.
Ultimately, this collaboration reflects a new era of cooperation among traditional broadcasters — one where shared platforms and strategic alliances are key to thriving in an increasingly competitive streaming landscape.
