Freesat receivers and IPlayer
The BBC Iplayer service is currently in testing phase, with plans for it to be rolled out in the near future.
Iplayer allows users to use the BBC Iplayer service on their Freesat receiver. The Iplayer allows users to view programmes on demand, normally a week or so after they have been aired on the “traditional” channels.
For this to work the Freesat receivers have to be connected to a ADSL / broadband connection.
And thi is where the sytem will fail to work in Spain.
The Iplayer service, is also available to use on the internet, but is blocked to users outside the Uk and ROI. This same blocking will be sued to prevent Freesat receivers outside the UK and ROI from accessing htewse services.
The only way you can avoid this blocking is to use a proxy or VPN service, just as you would if you were using your PC to view the Iplayer on your PC.
At the moment Humax HD and Humax HD+ users are able to use this service in a “beta” test version. The software should be available to download, but you will need a secret code to use the beta test.
Currently this code is not officially released to the general public, but only a select few who have registered an interest in the testing…..
The code is 5483.
This code is expected to be released to the general public in the next few days.
Again, this serices will be blocked for non UK and ROI users, as per the broadcast and licence agreements, just as they are via the internet.
