Pace Sky HD boxes get new software update
Sky HD boxes made by Pace are starting to have new software rolled out to them.
Software version 38.2.1.2 contains options for connecting your Sky HD box to the internet and LAN.
This will allow the box to be able to use your ADSL / broadband connection to provide Video on Demand – VOD – when the services is launched, expected to be later this year. This new service is similar to the Sky Anytime services, where “the best of SKy TV” programems are downloaded by satellite over night tot he Anytime planner.
This new service is called Anytime+, and uses ADSL / broadband distribution technology to allow for “almost” instant viewing of programmes available on the Anytime service.
It should be noted that this service will ONLY be available in the UK.
It is just the same as if you were using the Sky Anytime Player, their internet iplayer.
Their server will check the IP address of your internet connection and determine that you are outside the UK and ROI – and so your access will be blocked.
You the only way you may be able to get around this is via a proxy or VPN – just like you need to for the BBC Iplayer, ITV Player and Sky Player services in Spain
