It looks like a new HD channel will soon be available.

Sky News HD.

Sky announced that a high definition version of Sky News in Spring 2010. In the build-up to this launch, they will be upgrading their studios and several bureax both in the UK and around the world to be able to broadcast in HD.

It will be the first UK news channel to broadcast in HD

Sky News HD will be simulcast alongside Sky News’ existing standard definition channel. So regular users of channel 501 won’t miss out.

It looks like Sky News HD channel will be available on Sky Channel 517 – but this is to be confimed.

It is unknown if this HD channel wil be available for free, like Sky News currently is, or will only be made available to Skys HD subscribers.
