Film 4 HD on satellite coming soon.
According to reports, Virgin Media has confirmed that Film4 HD and E4 HD will become available soon on the cable TV platform.
Launching in the summer, Film4 HD will offer a daily lineup of British, American and foreign films in high definition, alongside interviews and exclusive programming. The channel will also carry movies produced by Film4, such as Mike Leigh’s Happy Go Lucky, Ken Loach’s Looking For Eric and the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.
Channel 4 head of VOD and channel development Sarah Rose added: “We’re really excited to be launching Film4 HD and showcasing some fantastic British films to millions of viewers in high definition. There’s a growing appetite for HD and our lineup of Channel 4 HD, E4 HD and now Film4 HD provides a great choice of HD content for viewers.”
This may mean that Film 4 HD will also become available on satellite soon also, and launch on satellite around the same time as it is launched on Virgin cable in the Uk.
This may be a bonus as the current SD version Film 4 is on a frequency whos reception is not available all day, yet if Film 4 HD follows the pattern of Channel 4 HD and E4 HD then it may be available on a small satellite dish frequency and available all day….
although on the downside it may follow E4 HD and become part of a Sky subscription package.
